Your tour will start with an early pickup in central Vienna as you meet your driver/guide. Travel west
toward Salzburg and enjoy the scenery of the UNESCO-listed Wachau valley while learning about the
area from your driver/guide.
After a breakfast stop(own expense), the tour progresses into another UNESCO World Heritage gem, the Salzkammergut region whose lakes and mountains played the starring role in the 1965 movie, The Sound of Music. As you admire your surroundings hear all about the most interesting points of the area's history before arriving in Salzburg around noon.
In Salzburg a walking tour of the UNESCO-protected Old Town with your guide awaits. Along the way, you will see famous landmarks such as the Cathedral, Mozarteum and St Peter's Cemetery, where the Von Trapp family sought refuge in the 1960 musical. As you wander the cobbled Getreidegasse shopping street the house of Salzburg's most famous resident will appear, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart while you learn about his life from your expert guide.
In the Mirabell Palace and its gardens experience the backdrop of the famous „Do Re Mi“ scene in The Sound of Music before taking in the views up to the Hohensalzburg, the imposing fortress looming over the city.
As the 1.5h-hour tour comes to a close feel free to take up to two hours to explore the city. Take in the atmosphere of Mozart's hometown as you stop for lunch and sightsee further.
After the two hour break, rejoin your driver/guide for a relaxing trip back to Vienna through the scenic countryside before drop-off at your central hotel in the evening.
